Family moment in Pembrokeshire wins photography competition.
A special moment overlooking the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast is the winner of the Hidden Treasures photo competition. The competition, run in partnership with National Parks UK, focussed on those moments that make National Parks such special places.
The competition received hundreds of entries highlighting the amazing array of experiences in National Parks, from glimpsing seals, gazing up at starry skies and ascending snowy peaks.
With an image of her son Jensen enjoying the view at Castle, Saddle Head in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Samantha Lewis brought to life a wonderful hidden treasure.

“Listening to the sea birds squawking while they fly overhead; smelling the wildflowers and watching the waves weaving in and out of the caves below is what makes this place my hidden treasure”, said Samantha.
As the winner Samantha’s image will be featured in Campaign for National Park’s upcoming members magazine, Viewpoint.

This image is an ode to Dartmoor’s rugged beauty, capturing a truly hidden treasure in the form of a sunrise over one of the National Park’s favourite tors.

Carmarthen Fans by Sean Crawford. Runner up, National Parks Hidden Treasures Photography Competition 2018
Campaign for National Parks singled out Sean Crawford’s image of walkers in the Carmarthen Fans, Brecon Beacons National Park. We believe the beautiful image evokes a walk through time and remembers all those past and present who have enjoyed a walk in the National Parks.
“Getting here involves long, hard trekking,” says Sean. “It’s remote and wild, spectacular, and rewards with incredible views – even to distant Devon across the Severn estuary to the south, and north into the Cambrian Mountains. It’s quieter than other parts of the Brecon Beacons and a very favourite hidden treasure of mine!”

Man on the Moors by Glenn Kilpatrick. Runner up, National Parks Hidden Treasures Photography Competition 2018
Glenn Kilpatrick’s snowy depiction of the Seated Figure sculpture at Castleton Rigg in North York Moors National Park is a runner up in the competition and has been selected by National Parks UK as their top pic from an outstanding calibre of entries.
“As there are so many photographs of the man I wanted to make mine different”, says Glenn, “so I waited for the first significant snows of the seas. Time this with sunset I felt I captured him in a rather nice light allowing me to show off the full detail of this amazing sculpture.”
