New National Parks
We're campaigning for new and enlarged National Parks and new opportunities to connect more people with natural beauty.

16 December 2024 was significant for two reasons; one, it was the 75th anniversary of the royal ascent of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, two, 10-week public consultation period on the proposal for a new National Park in Wales closed.
This public consultation is the first part of the final stage of designation, a process which started back in 2021 when Welsh government first commissioned Natural Resources Wales to evaluate the case for a new National Park. The consultation process has been one of the more energetic stages of the designation and required consistent and strong voices in support of the new Park which we feel would add value across the board to the area.
After careful consideration we have responded to the consultation and, in addition, coordinated a paper presenting the case for the inclusion of Gronant Dunes & Talacre evaluation area which has been supported by 14 independent organisations.

Natural Resources Wales will now be considering the responses and making amendments as applicable. We’re hopeful for the changes set out in our responses and will continue to work with local, regional and national organisations to make the new National Park an exemplar for nature.
